Cruise ship damaged by wind in Atlantic
MIAMI (AP/WTXF) -- A Royal Caribbean cruise ship ran into high winds and rough seas in the Atlantic Ocean, forcing passengers to stay in their cabins, but no injuries were reported.
One passenger from South Philadelphia sent us pictures of toppled chairs and pieces of the ship's interior ripped a part by the storm. The local woman, Rose Franchetti, says instead of dinner, staff members brought them bottled water, oranges and some M&M's as the storm played out.
"Things were falling off ledges, people were falling, food was falling off the table," Rose told FOX 29.
The ship was headed to Port Canaveral, Florida, but because of the forecast - it's now headed back to the Garden State.
Royal Caribbean tweeted that there have been no serious injuries from the storm.
Rose says the cruise ship made an announcement that everyone will get their money back and get 50% off their next cruise. She actually already had one scheduled for April.
