Del. police captain, 45, dies from heart attack

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) -- Police in Wilmington, Delaware, are mourning the loss of a 45-year-old police captain who has died from a heart attack.

The city's police chief and mayor announced the death of Captain Stephen Misetic on Saturday afternoon. They said he suffered the heart attack at home that morning.

Misetic had been on the force for 21 years. He was commander of the Drugs, Organized Crime and Vice Unit. He leaves behind a wife, Colleen, and twin daughters, Stephanie and Cassie.

Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki said Misetic was "an integral player" in the police chief's efforts to restructure the department and change "the way we police our streets."

Police Chief Robert Tracy said Misetic's colleagues are "heartbroken." He said Misetic's work made the police department better and that "we will miss him immensely."
