Delaware 7th-grader charged with felony for school threats

MILLSBORO, Del. (AP) - Police in Delaware have arrested a seventh-grader who they say made threatening statements on a school assignment.

Delaware State Police said in a news release that the 13-year-old Millsboro Middle School student was arrested Thursday in Newark and charged with terroristic threatening, a felony.

Police say school officials told police Monday about the threats and removed the boy from school for an evaluation. Further investigation revealed the comments targeted the school's principal and a staff member, and a school resource officer was told Wednesday that the boy had made threatening comments directed toward the school.

The student is out on $1,000 unsecured bond. The exact nature of the threats has not been released.

Police identified the boy, but The Associated Press does not generally identify juveniles charged with crimes.
