Delaware County police department gets new recruit
DELAWARE COUNTY (FOX 29) - Upland Borough Police Department announced their newest four legged recruit Thursday.
Halo, a 4-year-old female pit bull mix, was adopted by the department from the Rags 2 Riches Animal Shelter in Media, Pa.
Halo will work with specialists as she trains to become a therapy dog. The department says Halo will accompany officers to schools, senior living communities, hospitals and police events.
"It is our hope that other police departments will take the lead and consider saving the life of a rescue dog and integrating the dog into the fabric of their communities," read a release.
Halo is described as a "remarkably kind" dog who has been "lovable towards all she meets."
Officers say Halo welcomes visitors of all ages to come meet her at the station. But those who can not get down to Halo, can keep up with her on Instagram at @Halo_Upland_pd_Delco.
