Dog 'writes' goodbye letter to owner
AUSTIN, Texas - A dog owner shared a heartfelt tribute to his dog Benny after Benny passed away recently.
"I wrote a story to cope with my grief," said Austin, Texas musician and owner of Benny, John Pointer.
Benny, who was just shy of his 9th birthday, had his own Facebook page where posts and photos were shared from the point of view of the dog. In a touching send off, Benny shared his final moments with his owner, expressing the love John has for him and the care given to him in his final moments by the vet.
"I'm stunned by how many people have shared the story. I was just trying to imagine that the second shot wasn't an instant kill, but from his perspective was an instant cure. And I wanted to process it through the eyes of someone who was really loving and compassionate, but didn't really understand sadness," said Pointer.
Pointer writes on his Facebook page: "**Warning** Unless you are a robot, you will need a box of kleenex, a non-public place, and a friend to hug in order to survive this ordeal. If you can't find a friend, hug a stranger."
"It was also exploring the perspective of someone who was so focused on loving others, that Benny wasn't really aware that his body was shutting down on him."
