Driver Posts Selfie With White Cop To Show Police Interactions Can Be Respectful

A black Indiana man took a selfie with a white police officer in Indiana to show that police interactions can be positive, and his post has gone totally viral.

Greg Barnes Jr. was pulled over by the Indiana state trooper for speeding last Friday. Barnes said they talked calmly about the incident.

"I was pulled over today for speeding. The officer did not know me nor did I know him, but we each showed one another a mutual display of respect in our interaction," Barnes wrote on his Facebook page.

"He was doing his job, and I had made a mistake in trying to hurry home to get started moving that led to our path's crossing."

The post has been shared about 480,000 times.

"Neither of us are the enemy. We can continue to fight against each other until we are literally 'black and blue,' or we can show one another the respect we inherently deserve, not as 'black man' and 'blue police officer,' but as humans. None greater, none less," he wrote.
