Driver shot during police traffic stop in Haddon Township

A driver was shot during a police traffic stop Saturday morning. The incident occurred in Haddon Township at 9:41 a.m.

The officer involved is a Haddon Twp. officer.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting occurred after the officer stopped a vehicle on North Route 130 near Alabama Road.

Officials say while the officer attempted to identify the driver, the driver fled in his car and crashed into a parked vehicle.

The officer and driver had a brief struggle and the driver, an adult male in his 30s, was shot once in the lower extremity.

He was taken to Cooper Medical Center and has been treated and released.

The officer involved was placed on administrative leave pending the investigation,

The driver was arrested pursuant to an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
