Early morning truck crash causes severe house damage

NEW CASTLE, Del. (WTXF) - A truck hit a house early Tuesday morning and there's a whole lot of damage.

New Castle City Police say they responded to the crash in the 300 block of Moores Lane -- near E. 14th Street -- at 5:10am.

That's when they saw a tractor trailer had crashed into the front of a home.

The driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The homeowner was inside at that overnight hour, but was not injured.

The truck driver told police he was traveling north on Moores Lane when he hit a parked car and lost control of the tractor trailer.

Moores Lane is closed while crews look at structural damage to determine whether the house is safe.
