East Falls man arrested after car with runaway hits sheriff

PHILADELPHIA (AP/WTXF) -- A 32-year-old man has been arrested for assault in connection with a potential trafficking case.

Deven Harley, of East Falls, was arrested for assaulting a Deputy Sheriff in South Philadelphia.

The arrest comes as the search continues for 14-year-old Hannah Jones, who authorities say was in Harley's car when they stopped him on Sunday. She then reportedly disappeared.

The FBI fears she could be part of a human trafficking operation.

Jones, of Florence Township, New Jersey, was last seen in that area on Sunday, October 8.

Around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, two deputies from the FBI Philadelphia task force were reportedly trying to locate the runaway and spotted a vehicle with the teen inside in South Philadelphia.

Police say they stopped Harley on the 3000 block of South 7th Street. The suspect took off, hitting one of the officers, and abandoned the car on the 900 block of Johnston Street.

Philly police ultimately spotted Harley a mile away near Broad and Snyder, and he was arrested. The teenager, however, wasn't with the driver or the car.

The investigation is ongoing.
