Evacuations but no injuries in assisted living facility fire

An early morning fire suddenly forced dozens of senior citizens out of their beds.

FOX 29's Lauren Johnson reports it started at about 3:30am in the basement utility room of a South Jersey assisted living facility.

Crews arrived to find heavy smoke billowing out of the Brandywine Living Facility at Moorestown Estates. That's on the 2000 block of Church Street.

About 70 residents had to be evacuated, but not outside because of the cold. Instead, because the fire was under control, officials decided to move them to another part of the building.

Luckily, nobody was injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
