Family: Home Invasion Suspect Shot Self in Foot; Second Suspect At Large
WEST PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) - Police are trying to track down one of two men who invaded the West Philadelphia home of an elderly woman, and made off with a whole lot of valuables.
The incident occurred on the unit block of North Felton Street around 3:00 a.m. Sunday morning.
Police say the 91-year-old victim was home alone, when two men knocked on her front door, before kicking it in.
The men entered the home and woke the woman up while pointing a gun in her face. They took the woman's cell phone, iPad, and a computer, but did not harm the woman.
While trying to make a getaway, police say the suspects shot themselves in the foot figuratively and literally.
One of the suspects shot himself in the foot while making his way out of the victim's home.
Police were able to track that injured suspect down after they called the woman's cell phone and a doctor at the hospital the man went to for treatment answered the phone.
The family says the suspect was arrested, and her electronics were recovered.
The homeowner believes the men may have mistaken her home for someone else's.
