Family Taking Daughters on Surprise Disney Vacation Hit by Suspected Drunk Driver: Cops

(INSIDE EDITION) A Colorado man was driving his family to the airport for a surprise Disney vacation when cops say a suspected drunk driver demolished their plans.

Ryan Bragazzi was taking his fiance and two daughters -- ages 5 and 7 -- to Denver International Airport last week when the surprise for the girls became a nightmare for the whole family.

As the family sat in a traffic jam behind one crash reportedly caused by a DUI, police say the family's vehicle was struck from behind by another suspected drunk driver.

Bragazzi's minivan was hit with such force that it became wedged beneath a tractor-trailer. Despite utter destruction of the vehicle shown in photos of the wreck, the family survived.

Bragazzi, his fiance, and the two girls were all rushed to a hospital outside Monument, Colorado.

According to a GoFundMe page set up to raise funds for the family, Bragazzi's fiance, Jessica, was treated for a severe head wound. Bragazzi suffered broken vertebrae and ribs.

The girls were also admitted for medical treatment.

According to the GoFundMe page, the crash not only ruined the family's trip, but it also set the stage for months of struggle for the family.

"Ryan is going to be out of work for a few months to recover. Because he is the primary provider, this recovery time is going to be a rough time financially. Because of the loss of income during the recovery, this family will need all the help they can get," wrote the page's creator, Ammanda Salazar.

Salazar originally set a fundraising goal of $8,000, which was met easily. The goal has since been raised to $12,000.

"The family would like to thank everyone so much for all their prayers, love and support," Salazar wrote after the $8,000 was raised.
