Florida officers buy elderly victim new bicycle after his was stolen

Two Florida officers took a report of a stolen bicycle to heart.

Field training officer Ken Cody and officer trainee Guang Song with the Cape Coral Police Department went out of their way to brighten the day of a senior citizen, named Robert. His bicycle was stolen from a Winn-Dixie in the southern part of town.

The 80-year-old victim said it was his only mode of transportation. Both officers took the report, but just couldn't allow him to be without any way to get around. After taking the initial report, they went to Walmart and purchased a new one.

The duo brought the special delivery to Robert's home - as seen in body camera video released by the police department.

"Is this a new one, here?" Robert is heard asking.

"Brand spankin' new," the officer responded.

They told him they will do their best to find his original bicycle

"I understand these things take time," Robert said.

The duo provided him a lock for his bicycle, and pointed out the different features of his new ride. They adjusted his seat before leaving.

"Take it for a ride, Robert!"

As they were walking on Robert's a driveway, a man, possibly a neighbor, is heard saying, "You guys are the greatest in the world. I'm almost crying. God bless you."
