Former employee arrested for NJ man's murder

A former employee is under arrest after a Burlington County man was found dead in his home last Friday.

New Jersey State Police and the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office say David M. Stead, of Pemberton, went to Thomas Wright II's home in Tabernacle to rob him.

Instead, they report, "He shot him multiple times in the head and neck, then fled with a small amount of cash in a rented pickup truck that was being used by the victim."

Police released a picture of a truck on Sunday. It was found that night on Coleman's Bridge Road, less than a mile from Stead's home.

Wright's father found his son's body after the 49-year-old didn't show up at a job site for his business, Artisan Building Creations.

Stead, 42, is charged with first degree murder, felony murder, robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and theft.

He is being held in the Burlington County Jail in lieu of $1 million full bail.
