Officers met Ryleigh Williams during a recent Shop with a Cop event on Christmas. Ryleigh has been going through chemotherapy to fight leukemia, so the police force decided to do something special for her this week.
"The officers in the police department just kind of fell in love with her and took her under our wing," Griffin Chief of Police Michael F. Yates said. "She really loves the police so we came up with the idea of making her an honorary police officer."
The officers got Ryleigh her own uniform and badge. She was able to see everything they do, from fingerprinting to K-9 demonstrations.
She even got to fire a Taser!
"We're glad to do it to see a smile on her face and have something to look forward to," Yates said.
