Georgia Tech football player Brandon Adams dead at 21

ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - An senior interior defensive lineman for the Georgia Tech football team has died at the age of 21.

The school announced the death of Brandon Adams on Sunday, saying that he died the day before in Atlanta.

Adams, who was born on Dec. 22, 1997, was a busisness administration major who had played for three seasons with the Yellow Jackets.

"All of us here at Georgia Tech send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Brandon Adams," said Georgia Tech President G. P. "Bud" Peterson in a statement. "We ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers."

A native of Brentwood, Tennessee, Adams was a major face of high school sports in the city. He had earned 11 high school letters - four in football, four in track, and three in wrestling. As captain for both Brentwood Academy's football and track and field teams, he help lead them to multiple titles during his high school career.

"In the short time that I have had the privilege and honor of knowing Brandon, I admired and respected him, first and foremost as a terrific human being, but also as an outstanding teammate and leader," Georgia Tech football head coach Geoff Collins said in a statement. Jennifer and I offer our thoughts, prayers and unconditional support to his parents, Lisa and Reginald, his sister, Rian, and all of his family and friends, especially his brothers in our football program."

Adams is survived by his mother, Lisa Greer, his stepfather, Reginald Woods, and his sister, Rian.

Officials have not yet released the cause of Adams' death. There no information for his memorial service currently.
