Grandmother brutally beaten inside Hilltown Township home
HILLTOWN, TWP. (FOX 29) - Police are investigating after a grandmother ended up in the hospital after she was viciously beaten inside her Hilltown Township home.
Sheri Taylor says she spent last night at Lehigh Valley Hospital with her mother, Sharon, who is now heavily sedated after police say the Hilltown Township grandmother was brutally beaten.
"The one thing she was able to mutter to me yesterday was that they were trying to kill her so it's hard, really hard," Taylor told FOX 29.
According to police, two men showed up to her house Wednesday around midnight with masks, a bat and a plan to rob her.
Hilltown Township Police Lt. Christian Browne says the heinous beating happened on the 100 block of Reliance Place. Police don't think this was random and Taylor doesn't either. She says it's oddly coincidental that the attack happened the one week her mom's roommate was out of town.
"Somebody had to have known that nobody was there with her because he's always there with her," Taylor said.
Police say a neighbor found the victim and called 911.
"I think the thing that hurts the most is I can't imagine what was going through her mind--being there by herself and feeling helpless," Taylor said.
Taylor says her mother's purse and keys were the only items stolen. The home was not ransacked.
