High school robotics team builds power wheelchair for toddler with rare genetic condition

FARMINGTON, Minn (FOX 5 WTTG) - The family of a 2-year-old boy with a rare genetic condition that affects his mobility could not afford an electric wheelchair for him, so a high school robotics team built one instead.

The Farmington Public Schools' "rogue robotics team" from Minnesota came together to build an electric wheelchair for little Cillian Jackson.

Jackson's mobility is impacted by a rare condition and when his family's insurance wouldn't cover a power wheelchair the team of high schoolers didn't hesitate to help.

With a bit of help from a program at the University of Delaware, it took about two weeks to construct Jackson's new set of wheels. The family and toddler where thrilled with the end result!
