Eagles fan hit by football after Jake Elliott misses kick against Panthers: 'It hurt so bad'

Among the many fans during Sunday’s Eagles game versus the Carolina Panthers Jillian Zimmer, who found herself right near the action.

"We got these really great tickets and we were like wow we are so close," said Zimmer.

Close enough to witness the signature tush push touchdown and the team celebrations.

"It was my dads first Eagles game, it was my cousins second and it was his 21st birthday. We don’t do games very often so, it was definitely like a treat ourselves to the seats and everything so, that was super fun," said Zimmer.

The treat turned a little sour at the start of the fourth quarter, after the Eagles scored a go-ahead touchdown and Jake Elliott went to kick the extra point.

Elliot missed the kick and at the same time Zimmer was making her way back to her seat after going to the bathroom.

"You know when you are moving in the row, you are like looking down trying to see where you are going and all of a sudden the guy that was sitting next to me wasn’t moving. As soon as I turned my head to look at the game to see what he was looking at was like immediately when the ball made contact with my face," said Zimmer.

A missed extra point that she later learned hit a fan’s sign first and then her face.

"I just didn’t even know what to do, it fully bounced off my face, the other guy caught it and then I was just in shock. I was like I don’t know what to do right now, it hurt so bad," said Zimmer.

After much concern from other fans and her family, Zimmer went up for an ice pack from the stadium medical team.

"I went to get an ice pack and they were like, ‘no get in the wheelchair you’re going to the doctor’. I got wheeled over and taken in the elevator, went all the way down to where the players get checked out and I could literally see the field," said Zimmer.

A broken nose was ruled out and in Zimmer missed the rest of the game.

She had since posted a video about the incident on social media, which has received much attention.

Two things she wants to clear up is that she is fine despite learning that she had a mild concussion and there is no hate against her Eagles or Jake Elliott.

"All of this Jake Elliott slander I do not support, everyone is like bashing him and it’s not his fault," said Zimmer.

Zimmer says the Eagles organization has her information and plans to be in contact with her.
