Holiday Traffic Effected by Freight Train Derailment

AMTRAK reports traffic has resumed to normal following a train derailment Wednesday afternoon.

A pair of empty box cars from a Norfolk Southern freight train derailed outside Harrisburg at around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, affecting train traffic heading into the Thanksgiving holiday.

A contractor is coming in from Philadelphia to help with the removal.

The train that derailed, containing 9242 tons of cargo, was heading from Hagerstown, Md. to Enola, Pa. Due to the derailment, train traffic leaving Harrisburg will be effected.
