Houston resident shares helicopter selfie with National Guard member who saved her
(STORYFUL) Houston resident Jen__ shared a joyous selfie with the National Guard member who rescued her and her family from the floodwaters of Harvey on August 27.
Jen told Storyful that her family was in their home trying to block water by sticking towels in the cracks under the doors, but it kept rising, first reaching knee level and then their hips. She went to the roof with her parents, younger sister, and a friend, where they used flashlights to signal to rescue teams on boats and in helicopters. Eventually, they caught the attention of a National Guard crew, who flew them via helicopter to a rescue shelter. Jen is currently safe with her family at her cousin's house in Pasadena, Texas.
The photo shows her and the National Guard member smiling at the camera and flashing the peace sign.
