Investigation Continues of Accused Cop Shooter Archer

PHILADELPHIA- WTXF - Federal investigators are trying to track down information provided by an anonymous tipster over the weekend, which suggested a threat to Philadelphia Police is not over.

FOX 29's Bruce Gordon is standing by at a mosque in West Philadelphia.. That has become the focal point of the investigation.

Investigators are trying to piece together and verify information from a tip this weekend that Edward Archer was the least radical among a group of four men who kept company with one another. Three of them, she says, are still on the loose. Her claims have cast a harsh spotlight on a pair of local mosques.

Police patrols were hard to miss after the unnamed tipster told the cops Saturday that accused gunman Edward Archer was one of four men in the neighborhood who frequent the Masjid Mujahideen mosque at 60 th and Pine.

The tipster said Archer attended the mosque, but as worshippers gathered for midday prayers Monday, there was no hint of worry.

Archer, police said on Friday, told police that he shot Officer Jesse Hartnett because he "pledges allegiance to Islamic State."

The tipster told police that Archer "became more radical" after attending the mosque at 45 th and Walnut, the AICP Islamic Center. A spokesman, Walid Dimachkie, said that while Archer may have worshipped there, he would not have learned radical ways there.

"Tensions are running high, especially these days, so I can say why someone would want to blemish our reputation even though there's really nothing to be said about this place except that we teach moderation. We're extremely outspoken against radical ideologies."

Officer Hartnett remains hospitalized, though we're told he had another surgery today on his wounded right arm.
