Kensington in Crisis: What progress is being made?

KENSINGTON (WTXF) - The opioid crisis continues to hit parts of the city of Philadelphia hard, especially Kensington.

Mayor Jim Kenney's 'Resilience Project' aims to fight back by cleaning up the streets and moving homeless individuals with drug addictions into shelters.

Last week, the mayor held a meeting to update what progress is being made and what still needs to be done.

Others, including Councilwoman Maria Quiñones-Sanchez, are asking why things were allowed to get so bad on the streets of Kensington.

So, what progress has been made? FOX 29's Mike Jerrick went into the neighborhood to talk to the people about what is happening in Kensington and what isn't.

He also took a closer look at the good that has been happening in the neighborhood.
