Large sinkhole gobbles up street in Fishtown

FISHTOWN (WTXF) - A large sinkhole has gobbled up part of the 2300 block of Boston Street in Fishtown.

The sinkhole opened up Monday. Residents say this has been an ongoing problem on this street.

Water department officials say the main below did break, but they're not sure if something went wrong before that--like a defective sewage pipe from one of the homes --hollowing out the ground below. According to the water department, the rain is not helping the situation.

FOX 29's Joyce Evans reports crews have made a lot of progress with repairs.
