Local high school student gets perfect AP calculus score

Folsom, Pa. (WTXF) A local high school student got a perfect AP calculus score and his community is very proud of his achievement.

"To get a perfect score on the AP exam is a phenomenal feat. More than 300 thousand take it for AP calculus every year in the world, 12 in the world, get a perfect score," said Ridley High School Principal Ken Acker.

True enough, John Kusner answered every single one of the highly sophisticated calculus questions and he got every one right.

"It's like pretty overwhelming and unexpected and it's pretty cool, too," John told FOX 29.

"He learns things once, never asks for help. I don't think I gave him one tutoring session at all," said his father, John Kusner.

And John 's father could have helped because he's a math teacher. John is a gifted student, runs cross country and has talent beyond his 17 years. He interned for the Navy last summer.

"A lot of my spare time, I write code. I did computer stuff, software development, engineering," John explained.

John and his family just learned about his super academic achievement after he sent in his college applications, so he has emailed them with his news.
