Local Uber driver accused of raping unconscious woman

After an 8 month investigation, Pennsylvania State Police say a 26-year-old Uber driver has been arrested accused of raping one of his customers back in February.

The alleged victim a woman who had ordered an Uber around 2 a.m. from the Valley Forge Casino. Police say she was picked up by driver Ahmed Elgaafary from Lansdale. However, instead of going home, police say, he drove the woman to a Chester County residence where he had sex with the victim while she was unconscious without her consent.

A woman was home but didn't answer when FOX 29 knocked on the door at Elgaafary's Lansdale home. Although the alleged rape happened back in February, neighbors tell FOX 29 he had still been driving for the ride share service up until recently.

Elgaafary remains in the Chester County prison unable to post $75,000 bail. It's still unclear why it took police 8 months after the crime was reported to charge him.

FOX 29 reached out to Uber for a statement on the driver. We are awaiting word from the ride share service.
