Lockdown lifted at Chester High School after reports of student in possession of toy gun

Authorities say a suburban Philadelphia school was briefly placed on lockdown after a gun was reported, but the gun turned out to be a toy.

Officials in Delaware County said police were called to Chester High School at about 11 a.m. Tuesday after a student reported another student remove what looked like a gun from his waistband, and placing it in his backpack.

The building was placed on lockdown at 10:30 a.m., which was later lifted at about 11:30 a.m.

Police conducted a room-to-room search and a juvenile was taken into custody after a toy gun was found.

The juvenile involved in the incident has been charged with possession of a weapon on school property.
