Man arrested after girlfriend found shot dead in Bensalem hotel room
BENSALEM, Pa. - A woman is dead, and her boyfriend is in custody as police investigate a homicide that unfolded inside a hotel room in Bensalem Wesnesday morning.
The body of 49-year-old Maisha Coon was found at Sleep Inn on Street Road with apparent gunshot wounds.
Timeline:
Officers conducted a large-scale search of all area hotels after a family member told police that 51-year-old Orenthia Upshur admitted to shooting Coon, his girlfriend.
"He also stated that Upshur and Coon had been fighting recently and overheard an argument between them on a phone call at 12:39 a.m." according to a release from police.
Authorities say Coon had rented the hotel room on January 14, a day before the murder.

Upshur was taken into custody after police surrounded an Oak Lane home, where several shots were fired by the suspect.
A gun believed to be the one used in Coon's murder was also recovered.

Upshur is currently in custody in New Jersey, and police say they plan to charge him with criminal homicide and related offenses.
