Man arrested after throwing railroad spikes at passing cars, identified
PHILADELPHIA (WTXF) Police say they have arrested an 18-year-old man who threw railroad spikes from an overpass at cars in University City. He has been identified as Blake Bowers.
Bowers has been charged with aggravated assault and related charges.
The incident happened on University Avenue shortly before 8:30 p.m.
According to police, four occupied vehicles were struck; three have broken windshields and one has a damaged hood. FOX 29 is told police found six railroad spikes on the road. Police say one man suffered minor injuries with glass in his eye.
Police say the final driver of the final car that was struck, pulled over and ran up onto the tracks, chasing down the suspect, leading to his arrest. The suspect is now facing a number of charges including aggravated assault in connection with the incident.
