Man beaten, robbed outside Oak Lane grocery store

A man who agreed to light another man's cigarette ended up getting beaten by that man and two others.

The whole event from late Monday was caught on surveillance video and police are hoping you can help catch three men.

Police say at about 11:30pm, the 50-year-old victim was leaving the Rodriguez Mini Mart in the 6700 block of Ogontz Avenue when the first of the men asked him for a light.

He walked over to help, but police say the man "pointed a handgun at the complainant's stomach demanding the complainant's belongings. When the complainant began struggling with the suspect," two other men began punching and kicking him.

The victim fell to the ground and the robbers took $70. Then, they walked away and were last seen south on Ogontz Avenue.

The victim suffered minor injuries.

No shots were fired.

The first suspect is described as 19-20 years old with a thin build. He was wearing a blue t-shirt, dark pants, black and white sneakers, and armed with a handgun.

The others were also 19-20 years old but with medium builds, and both about 5'10"tall.

The second was wearing a red t-shirt with "LEVI" on the front, and tan shorts.

The third was wearing a green t-shirt with "Penn State" on the front, blue jeans, and black shoes.
