Man charged in child luring attempt at local Walmart
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Pa. (WTXF) - A Pottstown, Pennsylvania man has been arrested after an investigation into a child luring incident at a local Walmart last month.
Brian J. Whiting, 41, was arrested and charged with luring a child into a motor vehicle or structure, unlawful contact with a minor, and related charges in connection with the incident.
Back on May 19, officers responded to a Walmart in West Norriton Township for a reported child luring. Officers arrived on scene and were told a suspect, later identified by police as Whiting, had solicited a young boy for sexual favors inside the store's bathroom.
The victim was able to provide police with a detailed description of the suspect, and police later found Whiting nearby. Video surveillance from the store later corroborated the victim's account of the incident and shows Whiting entering the Walmart on more than one occasion wearing different clothes.
Whiting was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $100,000 cash bail.
