Man charged with arson in Christiana house fire

Officials have determined that a fire at a New Castle County home early Saturday morning was intentionally set.

Michael E. Williams, of Wilmington, has been charged with two counts of first degree reckless endangerment, first degree arson, and wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony.

Firefighters who arrived on the scene at Saratoga Drive around 5 a.m. were met with heavy smoke and fire coming from the residence. Several neighboring companies were called to assist.

Officials say the fire caused approximately $200,000 in damage to the home.

No injuries have been reported at this time.

Residents are currently being assisted by the Red Cross of Delmarva.
