Man charged with murder after 3 kids killed, mom shot in the head in Texas City

Police say autopsies revealed three kids killed in Texas City on Thursday suffered multiple stab wounds and blunt force trauma.

Police responded to a welfare concern around 6:15 p.m. at an apartment complex. Police found three young kids dead and a mom injured.

According to autopsies conducted by the Galveston County Medical Examiner's Office, all three children suffered multiple stab wounds as well as blunt force trauma, to which they succumbed.

The mom, identified as Kimaria Nelson was rushed to the hospital. Deputies say Nelson is suffering from blunt force trauma and she was also shot several times in the face and head with a high powered pellet gun. Doctors performed surgery on her, and she is now in stable condition.

The three children who were killed were identified as 5-year-old Angela Pilot , 2-year-old Prince Larry Brown and 2-month-old baby Ashanti Mehmood.

Junaid Hashim Mehmood, 27 has been charged with two counts of Capital Murder and Aggravated Asssault with a Deadly Weapon. He is being held without bond. Detectives have determined that Mehmood is the biological father of the youngest child. Police put out an alert late Thursday night warning the public that he was believed to be armed and dangerous. He was taken into custody in the parking lot of a Panera Bread restaurant near the Gulf Freeway and El Dorado.

Texas City Police Department is still working closely with the League City Police Department, Texas Rangers, and the Galveston County District Attorney's Office. The investigation is continuing and additional charges are expected to be filed later today.
