Man convicted of unlawful contact with minor

The Pennsylvania Attorney General's office announced the conviction of a man for unlawful contact with a minor.

It said Ryan D. Garner of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, was found guilty of criminal attempt to commit involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, criminal attempt to commit indecent assault and criminal use of a communication facility.

Garner, 36, was arrested in April 2015 after he responded to an online advertisement and sent text messages to an underage 'girl' in an effort to engage in sexual activity.

The 'girl' was an undercover agent with the Office of Attorney General's Child Predator Section.

A sentencing hearing is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 20.

The Attorney General's Child Predator Section was expanded in 2013 to include a state-of-the-art command center to conduct investigations and a mobile forensics vehicle for on-scene computer forensics analysis.

These efforts have resulted in a significant increase in the number of arrests and prosecutions of child predators in every region of the Commonwealth.
