Man critically injured after being shot 5 times in Fern Rock

FERN ROCK (WTXF) - A late night shooting in the city's Fern Rock neighborhood has left one man in critical condition after he was struck by gunfire several times.

The shooting happened on the 5900 block of North 12th Street just after 11 p.m.

Police say the 20-year-old victim was sitting in the driver's seat of his SUV just after leaving his home when someone fired as many as 17 shots at him.

The victim was struck 5 times, including in his head, torso, arm, and each leg. He was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition.

Investigators say no arrests have been made and they are looking into a potential motive.
