Man dies of complications from burns after house explosion

TAYLOR, Pa. (AP) -- Authorities say a man has died several weeks after the explosion of his northeastern Pennsylvania home.

Fifty-eight-year-old Brian Ott was flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest following the Aug. 30 explosion at the home in Taylor.

The county coroner's office said Ott died Friday afternoon due to complications from burns due to the blast. The manner of death is listed as undetermined.

Chief Stephen Derenick of the Taylor police force said Saturday that an investigation continues into the cause of the explosion. State police in Lackawanna County and a fire marshal are also investigating.

Authorities said Ott had been in the basement as the structure above collapsed. Rescue crews reported hearing him calling for help and pulled him from the rubble nearly 2 1/2 hours later.
