Man killed in Strawberry Mansion shooting, suspect in custody

A man has died following a shooting in Strawberry Mansion early Wednesday afternoon, according to Philadelphia Police. The 50-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The shooting occurred around 12:30 p.m. near the 3000 block of Fontain Street. Police say the victim was shot once in the chest by a 60-year-old man who then attempted to flee the scene.

First responders attempted to resuscitate the man for several minutes before he was eventually pronounced dead.

SKYFOX was over the scene where several nearby cars were also struck by gunfire.

Police say the officer fled on foot down Norris Street, and was later apprehended by police after the chase. The weapon has not been recovered at the time.
