Man pleads guilty to putting bleach in pregnant girlfriend's water

A Pennsylvania college student has pleaded guilty to putting bleach in his pregnant girlfriend's water last year in an attempt to harm her unborn child.

Theophilous Washington pleaded guilty to attempted homicide in the October 2016 incident, while Washington was a student a Millersville University.

Millersville University Police say Washington gave his pregnant girlfriend a bottle of water which he knew contained bleach. His girlfriend then drank some of the water, vomited, and called 911.

After an examination of the then 2-months pregnant victim, doctors determine neither she or the unborn child were believed to have been physically harmed. The woman has since given birth to the child.

Authorities clarified that the attempted murder charged was filed in regards to the child.

Washington will be sentenced after a background check is completed according to the lead prosecutor.
