Man sought in armed robbery of high-end Radnor jewelry store

Top notch surveillance video from cameras inside a high-end jewelry store in Radnor captures an armed robbery from start to finish. It happened around 5 o'clock Tuesday at Bernie Robbins Jewelers on the 700 block of Lancaster Avenue.

"It is a little concerning," said Natasha Vertti who works at another store in the same shopping center.

"That day I had seen five cop cars pull up with flashing lights and all that and I knew something had happened," she said. Video shows the suspect dressed in a dapper suit jacket, fancy fedora and van-like sneakers approaching the door. It's always locked so he has to ring the bell. A woman employee lets him in as he asks to check out Rolex watches. Another camera shows him walking around a case looking. Detective James Metzler describes the moment of the robbery when the man pulls a gun on the male employee.

"He pulled a black semi-automatic handgun from his waistband asked the manager to open the case at the time he grabbed 9 Rolex watches put them in his pocket and ran out the door," said Detective Metzler. Cameras capture the robber pulling out the gun, pointing it at the employee then walking around the counter to clear out the case. He stuffs some watches in his pocket then walks out with the rest in his hands while still holding the gun. Just as he gets to the door he drops a watch but them stops to pick it up before leaving.

"He then got into a sky blue 2012 or 2013 Hyundai Elantra, pulled out on Lancaster Avenue and heads west on Lancaster Avenue toward route 476," said Detective Metzler.

Vertti was surprised to finally hear the reason police were there.

"You would never think in this area something like this would happen," she said.

The store's owner is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the robber.

Witnesses say he has a missing right tooth and the getaway far has damage to the front passenger side hood.
