Man sought in murder of New Jersey gas station clerk
EDISON, N.J. (AP) - The killer of a gas station clerk in central New Jersey is still at large.
The Middlesex County prosecutor's office says a suspect was questioned Thursday in the early morning shooting at the Speedway gas station in Edison but was later released.
An erroneous report circulated Thursday that an arrest had been made.
The suspect is described as a male of slight build wearing light colored pants, a maroon colored hooded sweatshirt, mask and gloves.
He allegedly entered the gas station with a handgun. The clerk, 38-year-old John Bertram of Woodbridge, gave the cash drawer to the suspect. The suspect fired one round, killing Bertram.
Authorities did not say how much money was taken.
