Man stabbed nephew, grabbed officer's genitals while handcuffed, police say

CHICAGO, IL - Police say that a man was discovered clutching a knife in one hand while holding a child by the hair in the other, then proceeded to resist arrest when the child was removed from him. This was after the same man stabbed another child in the chest.

The Chicago Sun Times reports that Cook County Sheriff's officers discovered Romanus Ubamadu holding a knife and his 3-year-old nephew by the hair around 4:10 p.m. on July 6, according to a statement from the sheriff's office.

Officials say that 24-year-old Ubamadu did not listen when officers ordered him to let go of the boy, but his sister got the boy away from him.

Then, police learned that Ubamadu previously stabbed his 11-year-old nephew in the chest. That boy was treated at a hospital and then released.

Ubamadu was charged with aggravated battery to a child, aggravated unlawful restraint, and aggravated battery to a police officer on July 7, according to officials. Bond was set at $100,000.

The charge of aggravated battery to a police officer came after Ubamadu allegedly grabbed an officer's genitals while handcuffed. He then reportedly kicked the same officer in the hand.
