Man wanted in police chase arrested at sister's house

The man police wanted to capture for shooting a gun is under arrest. He was caught at his sister's home, about an hour later.

Philadelphia police said they heard a single gunshot coming from near the 13000 block of Townsend Road and found William Opper wearing an orange shirt and khaki shorts, and holding an AR-15 in the air.

They say the Trevose man then then got into a 2004 white Ford truck "and reversed the vehicle towards the officer, almost striking her and the patrol vehicle, and fled northbound towards Bensalem Township."

Opper, 37, didn't make it to his destination.

According to police, he "was involved in an auto accident and became inoperable and the male was lost in a wooded area near the crash site."

Then, about 30 minutes later, police learned he got away in a silver vehicle and headed to his sister's house in the 2900 block of Devereaux Avenue.

That's where he was arrested.
