Man who ran from Del. car crash collapses, dies the next day
REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. (AP) - Police in Delaware say a driver who ran away from a single-car crash before authorities arrived collapsed and died a day later from injuries he suffered in the wreck.
State Police said in a news release Tuesday that the crash occurred Friday night in Rehoboth Beach. Troopers say 62-year-old Lawrence E. Cassidy Sr. drove through a stop sign, hitting a highway sign and a tree before coming to rest.
Investigators say Cassidy left his car and fled before police arrived.
Troopers say on Saturday morning, Cassidy collapsed at his home and was pronounced dead by paramedics. Police say the state medical examiner concluded that Cassidy died as a result of injuries which sustained in the crash.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
