Maryland man arrested after robbing Newark GameStop

A Maryland man has been arrested following a robbery at a Newark GameStop on Thursday.

The incident occurred Thursday at 2:43 p.m. at the GameStop in the Suburban Plaza Shopping Center in Newark.

Officers responded to a report of a gunpoint robbery. When they arrived, they learned that the store employees were held at gunpoint and forced to hand over an undisclosed amount of money and gaming equipment.

The suspect then fled the shopping center in a green BMW sedan.

Officers also learned that there was a tracking device with the stolen items.

With help from city surveillance camera, officers quickly confirmed the suspect vehicle and a license plate number.

The man was tracked into Perryville, Maryland where he was taken into custody by Maryland State Police. He has been identified as 41-year-old Elvis A. Anderson of Rosedale, Maryland.

He has been charged with robbery in the first degree, six counts of aggravated menacing, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony.
