Mercer County man charged with child porn, more after scuffle

A Mercer County man being investigated for using a file-sharing network to share child pornography was arrested during a scuffle with authorities.

Attorney General Christopher S. Porrino announced detectives with the Division of Criminal Justice executed a search warrant at Peifeng Meng's Pennington home, Wednesday morning.

That's when Meng tried "to grab the handgun of one of the state detectives, but he was stopped from taking the gun and subdued."

It started when a detective conducting an online investigation on a peer-to-peer file sharing network "popular with child pornography offenders" identified a computer address being used to download and share child pornography.

She downloaded more than 140 computer files of child pornography allegedly being shared from an IP address traced to Meng's home.

While there, detectives allegedly found child pornography on his smart phone. They took computers and other electronic devices for full forensic examinations.

Meng, 43, is charged with distribution of 25 or more computer files of child pornography and possession of 100 or more files of child pornography, plus attempt to disarm a law enforcement officer and two counts of aggravated assault on an officer.

Two state detectives suffered minor injuries in the scuffle. They were treated at a hospital and released.

Meng is in the Mercer County Jail with cash-only bail set at $100,000.
