Mom Buys Coffee For Women Who Verbally Assaulted Her

FORT GRATIOT, MI- A Michigan mother is making national headlines for her act of kindness, after she purchased coffee for two women who mocked as she was shopping.

Dianne Hoffmeyer, spoke to reporters Thursday, saying she was ordering doughnut holes for her two-year-old and a cup of coffee for herself at Tim Horton's in Fort Gratiot when she was assaulted.

Hoffmeyer, who recently lost 177-pounds say the remarks the women made were so hurtful. They made her cry.

Instead of getting upset and lashing out, she decided to pay it forward.

"'Oh look at her hair, its nasty looking and the roots are coming through'. Oh she's a whale, oh the whale needs to eat'," Hoffmeyer recalled, "I ordered by cappuccino and the lady behind me, the older lady said 'Oh the whale even needs to have liquids. Maybe she should go back into the water.'"

"And I instantly started to cry, because it hurts. I don't know the women. I don't know why they would choose to say something like that. I was crying because it hurt but I was crying because I was getting mad. You know, because here are these people that don't even know who I am and don't know what I've had to go through," Hoffmeyer said.

That's when she decided to pay it forward.

"I told the cashier, 'I'll pay for their coffee,' and she was like 'What?' 'Yeah, I'll pay for their coffee.' Well 'Ok are you sure?' And I said,' Yeah I'm sure' and I paid for it and picked up what I had and I turned around and walked out. Well then I went sat in my car for fifteen minutes and I started crying," Hoffmeyer explained.

Dianne says she would love to buy them another cup of coffee and talk to them women about how their comments made her feel.

The story went viral, after the mother posted her story on Facebook.
