Montgomery County Business Owners Arrested, Charged In Identity Theft Case

The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office has filed arrested and charged two Upper Dublin Township business owners following a series of identity theft crimes.

Eric Lamont Martin and Portia D. Martin have been charged with theft of $124,981. In March 2015 authorities began investigating the two, who are the owners to Centra-Spike, a heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) company.

Police believe the two obtained personal information from at least eight individuals, and applied for fraudulent loans in their names. The loans were applied for through Synchrony Financial in order to pay for alleged HVAC services.

Police say Synchrony Financial paid loans to Centra-Spike's business accounts, and were later transferred to the Martin's personal accounts.

Anyone who believes they may be a victim should contact Upper Dublin Police Department at 215-646-2101.

The Martin's are each being held on $75,000 bond. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for August 11th.
