New Jersey teacher among 4 finalists for National Teacher of the Year

A New Jersey teacher is in the national spotlight as a finalist for the 2018 National Teacher of the Year Award!

Amy Andersen was named New Jersey's teacher of the year in October and is a sign language teacher at Ocean City High School.

Now, Amy has been named one of four finalists for the National Teacher of the Year Award.

You may remember Amy from an anti-bullying video of her students signing that went viral a few years ago.

The Council of Chief State School Officers says the winner typically receives presidential recognition and travels the country for education advocacy.

The other finalists include art instructor Jonathan Juravich from Liberty Tree Elementary in Powell, Ohio, Washington's Mandy Manning, who teaches refugee and immigrant students at Ferris High School in Spokane, and Kara Ball an elementary school teacher at Camp Lejeune.

You can catch Amy on Good Day Philadelphia next week!
