NJ husband, wife found shot to death in apparent murder-suicide

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) -- Authorities say a New Jersey couple found shot to death in their home died in an apparent murder-suicide.

Forty-year-old Lydiah Okongo and her 51-year-old husband, Henry, were found around 8:45 a.m. Monday by Jersey City police who were responding to reports of an injured woman. Two young children -- a 3-year-old boy and a year-old girl -- were also found in the home but were not injured, though the boy was taken to the hospital for an evaluation as a precaution.

Hudson County prosecutors say Lydiah Okongo was shot multiple times in the head and torso. Her body was found on the home's first floor.

Henry Okongo was found in the basement with a gunshot wound to the head.

Further details about the shootings have not been disclosed.
