Off Duty Officer, Civilian Injured In Restaurant Fire

Two people were sent to the hospital after a fire broke out Sunday evening at a restaurant in North Philadelphia.

The flames broke out just after 6:00 p.m. at the Chinese restaurant near the corner of North 5th and Cumberland streets.

Fire fighters encountered heavy flames and smoke when they arrived on the scene.

It took about an hour to get the fire under control.

One of the two victims was an off duty Philadelphia Police Officer that tried to assist at the scene.
